Detailed Topographic survey of an area can be accomplished with Total Station. The data collected from the total station is processed to generate the 3D model, Digital elevation Model (DEM), Digital Terrain Model (DTM) and contours of the area. The instrument is largely used for Topographical survey, survey of areas that are inaccessible by modern surveying instruments and Volume calculations.
